The Dreamlike Wanderings of Edouard Buzon

Edouard Buzon's work is an interior travel diary, a dreamlike wandering paved with signs, numbers, pieces of unfinished sentences. The images are familiar but the paths linking them to each other are completely unexpected. Populated by characters who turn their backs on us, Buzon's paintings offer those who linger to embark on wonderfully smooth surfaces to join improbable and brightly colored lines of flight. Its purpose is not to define history but to offer everyone a mysterious language to write their own story.

After years of research and adjustments, the painter has created his own unique tools allowing him to get as close as possible to his artistic ideal. He makes his own colors, adding various mediums to carefully chosen pigments. The iconography is drawn from his countless photographic images. However, the photo remains anecdotal, a pretext for another escape. He recomposes strange landscapes, and integrates them into surprising and nevertheless seductive chromatic compositions.

But what adds to the originality of this work is the particular attention he pays to the finish. Layer after layer, Edouard polishes the surface of his works, thus obtaining, after weeks of patience, a lacquer evoking the shine of a beautiful bodywork. Demiurge in his country, lover of a job well done, Edouard Buzon invests each stage of the gestation of his world, infusing the same energy into the substance and the form.

Entering the works of Edouard Buzon is daring to go to the other side of the mirror.
