Laurent Bouro is a contemporary French painter born in 1967, based and active in Tours. Self-taught, he developed an instinctive relationship with pictorial material very early on, far from traditional academic frameworks. His journey is built on experimentation, observation of supports and physical understanding of the behavior of paint. This empirical approach shapes a unique plastic writing, centered on the reaction between oil and wood. For more than a decade, he has exhibited regularly in galleries in France.

His work focuses almost exclusively on oil painting on wooden frames. He developed a personal technique which causes a natural and rapid cracking of the material, which has become the visual signature of his works. This phenomenon is neither decorative nor accidental: it structures the surface and inscribes the notion of time in the painting itself. Landscapes and trees constitute his main subjects, treated on the border of figuration and abstraction. The material, the crack and the support fully participate in the meaning of the work.

Through these refined landscapes, Laurent Bouro seeks less to represent nature than to translate its memory and presence. Its trees, often solitary, become symbols of stability, roots and temporality. The sobriety of the compositions gives way to a contemplative, almost meditative reading, reinforced by the tactile richness of the surfaces. His work is today distributed by several French galleries and integrated into private collections sensitive to this material and silent approach to landscape.
